On the last day of summer, before everybody’s first day of school, I went out on the town with Leilani and Hendrix.

stairs to the park
We walked out of the house, around the corner and up into the park.
And down the trail……
Until we found some exercise equipment. So we worked out for a while

Then we decided to hop on the bus for a ride downtown.

There are still a few bombed out buildings around town that have been left as monuments to the war, and they just put a fence up around them. I’m not sure if the Chinese embassy is one of them or not, but they are quite demolished.
So far, my approach to riding the bus is to get on any bus going in the right direction. It seems to work. This particular bus was no. 41, which seemed like a familiar number. And it worked.
We enjoyed many fountains and some public art.

We’re missing the Yolo county fair this week, but we went to Belgrade’s famed Beerfest the other night (no pictures to prove it-but I do have a t shirt) and they had a carnival area with some very unsafe looking rides. Shannon and a friend that we were with went on one that turned out to be much scarier than it looked. So the kids kept mostly to the carnival games. At the shooting gallery, the guns were real pellet guns that weren’t tied down or anything. They handed Hendrix a rifle with no guidance. It was exciting, and lots of fun.

Tomorrow Hendrix starts Kindergaten, Leilani starts 2nd grade and Shannon and I start our crazy new jobs…
